Mie Olise was born in Denmark by the seaside at the Island of Mors.

She sailed a wooden ship, lived at a sawmill, had a big
Dobermann dog called Roger. She was very good at
fixing bikes.

Mie Olise currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY;
where she is undertaking the ISCP - International
Studio and Curatorial Program.

In 2009 she has been doing Artist-Residencies at
Iceland, in Berlin and at Skowhegan, US.

She travelled to New Foundland to investigate for her
project "A Fugitive Crosses his Tracks, a double sided
journey of the two Esben Arnakkes".

Olise is trying to track down both the sailor, Esben
Arnakke - main-character of Aksel Sandemoses famous
autobiographical novels (Esben Arnakke fled the same
Island in Denmark, that Olise grew up at), as well as
she is trying to find the ship, Esben Arnakke - built by
the artists father and lost in 1986. By travelling after the
ship, finding it´s new owners, Mie hopes to find the ship
in spring 2010.

Into The Pyramid.
In 2008 funded by the Danish Art Council Mie could
realize her 2nd trip to the North Pole to investigate the
Russian Abandoned Ghost Town, The Pyramid. This
time Mie Olise brought a Film Photographer, and among
other things recorded the playing of the tune made by
Goodiepal for the 1st project aloud on loudspeakers on
the Russian abandoned SQ in front of the Lenin Statue,
as polar bears can attack at any time, you also need to
bring a rifle!

As a painter, constructor and filmmaker Olise combines
Architecture and Art with Psychology. She works with
Narratives relating to Space, Abandoned Places and
Desolate Structures.

Olise additionally holds a MA in Architecture.
